Success for St Mawes SC sailors at 2011 Schools Regatta!
85 boats and 135 sailors made this one of the largest and most competitive schools regattas so far, with schools from all over Cornwall represented. St Mawes Sailing Club took 10 boats and 20 sailors over to Restronguet.
The fog lifted enough in the morning for racing to go ahead but the winds remained light providing challenging conditions for the less experienced sailors.Old hand Lawrence Bysouth tried to lighten his load for the 2nd race by ditching his crew, but when the Race officer noticed he was sent off to recover him! The breeze picked up after lunch giving newcomers Lily Pursall and Max Beaman a 2nd in their Pico.
Overall our St Mawes SC results were
2nd Elliot Wilkinson and Charlie Pursall
3rd Ross Warren and Ali Ross
Double Handed Pico
1st Ollie Holmes and Ollie croft (with 3 bullets!)
3rd Lawrence Bysouth and Matt Butler
5th lily Pursall and Max Beaman
OUR Junior Sailors enjoy success at local, National and International level.
Locally, in Pico's and Feva's they participate in village regatta's, the Cornwall Schools Regatta, Falmouth Dinghy Week and our very own Junior Race Week.
