We would welcome anyone, with or without previous experience, who feels they would like to join the list of approved drivers and receive training in the safe use of our RIBs. Learning to drive a RIB, whilst overseeing a sailing race, gives both insight and appreciation of each other's problems and requirements whilst on the water, leading to a better understanding all round.
We intend to make these formal training sessions serious fun; so if you enjoy the water and would like to help please contact Jeremy Harvey on 01326 270784, or the club office at office@stmawessailing.co.uk.
It is also worth noting that volunteers need not be drivers and can, if they wish, crew for the paid drivers. We would very much welcome anyone who is able to this. No specific training is needed.
For the 2007 season, we will cover our safety boat rota using a small team of paid drivers, volunteer drivers and crew and to complete the rota we will be asking all regular racers to do a few duties as crew on safety boats.
