Loch Long Class Regatta

Sun 21st - Fri 26 June

LONG LOCH ONE DESIGN SAILING CHAMPIONSHIP

St Mawes Sailing Club is proud to announce that it will host the Long Loch One Design Sailing Championship from 20th to 27th June 2026, bringing a full week of competitive racing and harbour side activity to the village.

The championship will welcome a fleet of Long Loch One Design yachts, classic boats measuring 23 feet in length and usually crewed by teams of three.

Renowned for close, tactical racing and elegant lines, the class produces exciting competition where teamwork, boat handling, and decision making make the difference.

All boats will be launched from and recovered to the main harbour in St Mawes, placing the regatta firmly at the centre of village life. Daily launching and recovery will create a lively waterfront atmosphere as crews prepare, head out to race, and return to the harbour at the end of each day.

St Mawes Sailing Club would like to offer sincere thanks to the Pier and Harbour Company for their support and cooperation in enabling this arrangement. Their assistance is essential in ensuring safe, efficient operations throughout the championship and highlights the strong partnership between the club and harbour authorities.

Racing will start and finish from the St Mawes Sailing Club line, providing excellent viewing opportunities both afloat and ashore. With identical boats racing in close formation, spectators can expect tight starts, frequent position changes and thrilling finishes. Against the backdrop of the Roseland Peninsula, the fleet should deliver a memorable and colourful spectacle.

The championship is being held with a clear aim of boosting local businesses and supporting the positive vibe in the village. Visiting sailors, families and supporters will stay locally, dine in cafés and restaurants, and shop in village stores, helping to support the local economy at the start of the summer season.
